Sundog

Walking the dogs in the fields of south Lincolnshire this evening I caught sight of a sundog, a mini rainbow caused by ice crystals high in the sky.As always the photo doesn’t do it justice.

Reflected moon

I’m moored in the short section of canal at Sawley which bypasses one of the several non navigable areas of the River Trent. About quarter of a mile away is the M1,  just audible over the quacking of the local ducks.

The white blob is the reflection of the moon broken by ripples in the water.

Arvon Foundation

Getting back to normal now after a superb week at Lumb Bank, one of the centres belonging to the Arvon Foundation.  The course was for novelists with a work in progress and was tutored by Maggie Gee and Adam Foulds.  Both tutors were excellent,  offering insightful comments and running tutorials and workshops throughout the week.
Part of what made for such a useful and educational week was the company.  As well as such good tutors the fifteen attendees were a wide ranging group,  covering all ages,  genres and writing styles. In my opinion,  maybe not worth very much but who knows,  there were a couple of writers there who will be very successful in the near future.  I hope I’m right,  I’ll be keeping an eye out for them anyway.
